Description

Nestled at the bottom of the Rocher de la Mottaz, the Chapelle du Merle was built in 1903 on this site famous for what happened here during the French Revolution.
During the French Revolution, a statue of the Virgin Mary and the canton capital church's tabernacle (closed at the time) were hidden at the bottom of the Rocher de la Mottaz to avoid them being vandalised. Ferdinand Tornier from Le Champ du Noyer built the chapel in 1903 in memory of the event. A little lower down you'll find a pool whose water has miracle qualities, especially for eye-related diseases.
